Save the Children (SC) implemented SAHAYATRA II in five Palikas of three districts; Dailekh, Jajarkot, and Kalikot. The project utilized the concept of Para Social Workers (PSW) under the leadership of the women and children department in the Palika and technical support of SC, who were local volunteers, placed at the ward level in solving cases of children of the community. The PSW worked closely with the Ward Child Protection Committee (WCPC) in solving such cases of children to strengthen the child rights and protection mechanism at the communal level. For possible scalability and replicability options for other Palikas and the national government, this operational study reported on the following broad areas:

  • Evidence of the good practice of PSW in the past 2 years
  • Assess PSW role in the case management system
  • Obtain challenges, experiences, and solutions for PSW
  • Scalability and replicability to report on an aspect of sustainability
